Who We Are

MARANATHA RECONCILIATION CHURCH (MRC) is the fruit of the clear vision God graciously revealed to His servant, Bishop Rodrick Mbwambo, in 1994. This calling seeks to deliver the transformative message of the Gospel to diverse, unreached peoples in the rural and urban areas of Tanzania and beyond, with a particular focus on reaching the Muslim population.

The Beggining

Maranatha Reconciliation Church (MRC) emerged from a non-denominational ministry that was originally known as the Maranatha Evangelistic Team International (MET). Founded in 1990 by Bishop Roderick Mbwambo, the ministry was established with the mission of spreading the word of God.

After seven years of collaboration with various denominations on preaching efforts, it became clear that there was a significant need for church planting within the MET framework. As a result, on October 28, 1997, MET transformed into an independent entity, giving rise to Maranatha Reconciliation Church.

The name of the church combines elements from two languages: Aramaic and English. The term “MARANATHA,” which is derived from Aramaic, translates to “the Lord is coming,” as referenced in 1 Corinthians 16:22. Meanwhile, “Reconciliation” stems from English and signifies the act of reconciling, as highlighted in 2 Corinthians 5:18. These two components reflect MRC’s identity as an independent church aligned with the Pentecostal movement, dedicated to preparing people for the imminent return of Christ.

Mission and Growth

MRC is committed to several core objectives, including preaching the gospel, providing teaching, planting new churches, and assisting the poor. Since its inception in 1997, the church, headquartered in the commercial city of Dar es Salaam, has successfully established 100 additional churches across sixteen regions in Tanzania.

Under the continued leadership of Bishop Roderick Mbwambo, MRC offers a variety of services through several dedicated departments. These include a Bible College, programs for orphans and widows, evangelism, youth engagement, women and children’s ministries, Good Samaritan outreach, Operation Rehab (supporting those in prostitution), prison ministry, campus missions, counseling services, and micro-development projects.
